Snap Shots from the Road to Tulsa.

Tulsa was a success! I had a fabulous time doing nothing in particular at all, which is my favorite thing to do. It was nice to touch base with my friend in a relaxed atmosphere where we could be ourselves. She was such a graceful host and I appreciate all the pre-work she put into our visit. The best surprise of all was that our little girls played really well together. Usually they just play around one another but don't interact. This weekend they were actually having conversations. YIPPEE! We also managed to make FELT FOOD!
On the road!
Oklahoma......where the wind comes sweeping down the plains, and the waving wheat smells so sweet when the wind comes right behind the rain.... Emma and Harry Enjoying the swing set,,, Mike might have a summertime project on his hands if he's not careful!

Emma LOVED Ella's Cinderella Microphone, I guess I know what she wants for Christmas.
Being the first up, has it's perks. Emma played with all the pancakes and had coffee with us moms while the other three kids slept.

Tulsa Here I come!

So stinkin' excited! I am anxiously waiting for Thursday morning to get here. I am going to Tulsa to visit my friend Melissa, who is more like a sister. I am looking forward to laughing till my abs hurt and my eyes water, eating great food, and watching all the kiddos play. Most of all I am looking forward to working on our project! We decided to take the plunge and try to make some felt food for our little girls. This giant pile of felt has been staring at me for the last few days. It's just so pretty and I swear it's calling out my name! I tried to make some bacon and eggs and I was pleased with how they turned out. I was glad to try it, because I had to change my stitching quit a bit. I'm so ready to combine our creative minds and find the best way to complete this project. I know our girls with end up with adorable felt food.

Rainy Day Doll House

My kiddos are drowning in boredom. It has been raining here for the better part of the week and we haven't gotten out much. When they fell asleep watching cartoons at 8:00am I knew I had to take action!
I saw the diaper boxes sitting by the recycling bin, and it hit me,,,,, DOLL HOUSE! I grabbed some supplies, and our creative minds where instantly in motion!
No Yard is complete with out a feather tree! Emma and Grandma are measuring the floor, Emma informed us, "It is 88 months"

Potato Soup For Breakfast

This morning I was cutting some homemade bread I made last night and my daughter(3 1/2) informed me that it was "soup bread" not "toast bread". Well, she was sorta correct. Last night I made Potato Soup and Rye Bread,,, she thought "clearly the only way to eat this bread, is dipping it in soup" soo, we had potato soup for breakfast. Here is the recipe I made. It is my own variation on about 4 recipes, I couldn't make a potato soup with more cheese then veggies, no matter how good it sounded. 1 C Chopped Celery 1 C Chopped Carrots 1/4 C Chopped Onion 1 T Butter 5 Medium Potatoes, Baked and cubed 3 T Bouillon 2/3 C Flour 6 C Milk (I prefer 2%) 1 Pkg Dry ranch mix Salt and Pepper to taste 1 C shredded cheddar cheese (I prefer SHARP, because you get more flavor with less cheese) Saute Celery, Carrots, Onion, and Butter in a pot on Medium until soft. Wisk in Flour and Milk until smooth. Add bouillon, ranch, salt, pepper, cheese, and potatoes and simmer on LOW for about 20mins

Crafting Schizophrenia

Lately I have been so indecisive when it comes to my crafting. I have been stock piling patterns, material, and ideas. Not really finishing anything. I can't figure out what is going on! Am I bored? Am I overwhelmed and thus just jumping for thing to thing? Am I avoiding something? Am I stressed. HELP! My wallet and brain can't take anymore brainstorming! I need to stop and focus on a project! This week alone I have made: 6 Hair Bows 3 Skits (none of which actually fit me, stupid pattern) 2 dresses for my daughter Diaper Clutch for my son I have purchased supplies for the following projects: 3 new dress patterns 1 2 3 12 dish towels 2 head bands 16 new rolls of Grosgrain ribbon buttercup purse pattern Tank top Tote Felt food

Why I'm Green

"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth" (Genesis 1:1 NIV). This single verse describes the actual transformation of invisible energy into all of the fundamental physical matter (as summed up in Albert Einstein's famous E=mc2 equation) that would be formed into stars, planets and everything else - including US! Wow! How can we not celebrate EARTH DAY! I try to be green when I can and I love teaching my kiddos about the earth. I believe God gave us this earth and we are to take care of it to the best of our ability. I'm not extreme by any means, but in the past few years our family has changed how we live on this earth. Yesterday I set aside time to plant flowers with Emma, I wanted her to know the joy of having her hands in dirt and watching something grow. She was so excited and we had a blast! At the Garden Center getting the flowers! So excited for playing in the dirt! Getting rocks for the bottom of the planters! I love our Coconut Planters!
So proud of her new gloves!
Loved having dirty hands!

I don't care much for purses,,, not enough room for all my kiddos' stuff. However, I LOVE a good Bag. These are two of my favorites, and I have worn them to shreds. I love them because of the structure and SHAPE of the bag. I love that I can just toss crap into them. SOooooOOOooo I decided to recreate them1 I am so pleased with the way they turned out. THE ORIGINALS

Week 1 - Weigh in

It's Weigh in DAY!

I have been fairly disciplined this week. Last weekend was rough, but the possibility of winning some money has gotten my attention. I have tried to keep my eye on the prize and when I'm exercising, I fantasize about all the lovely things I will buy,,,, and how they will all be so tiny! So here we are, it's 7:30am and it's time to get the results. I have emptied my bladder, blown my nose, and nursed my son, and now I'm ready to get on the scale. . . (silently praying for good results) . . (man this bathroom is cold) . . (if I hold my breath will that help?) . . And the RESULTS are In! 2.5 POUNDS LOST! My Stats: 4/6/2008 Height: 5'6" Weight: 135.5 pounds Goal: 128 Percentage Lost: 1.81% Weeks Remaining: 7 ************************************************************ Weight Loss Percentage Formula Instructions Step1: Divide number of pounds lost by the starting weight. Step2: Multiply the answer to step 1 by 100 Step3: Example: 40 /330 x 100 = 12.12% *********************************************************************

We got a first timmer over here!

Emma had her first trip to the DENTIST yesterday! She did great! She was in charge of holding the "silly straw" and boy was she helpful!
"Helping" Miss Ashley clean her teeth by jamming the straw in whenever she could
(Lovin' that silly straw!) She wouldn't let go of her toothpaste
(Just another day at the dentist relaxing with the silly straw)
All Shiny and Clean!

Evolution of a Shiner

Evolution of a Shiner!
Emma age 3, Shiner age 30 minutes Emma ran straight into her dresser tonight. Lucky for us her eye is the exact height of the dresser corner. (this last sentence is dripping with sarcasm) I can't wait to see what it looks like tomorrow,,,,, and most importantly all the stares I'm going to get tomorrow at the grocery store!
